Cynthia joined the Museum team in 1998. She is drawn to telling stories about clothing and fashion trends that have become entangled with Canadian identity projects.

CATERINA FLORIO
Head, Conservation

Caterina joined the Museum team in 2021. With a strong interest in how museums function and what they can achieve, she is committed to the wider relevance of conservation as regards both museum practices and society outside the lab.

JONATHAN LAINEY
Curator, Indigenous Cultures

Jonathan joined the Museum team in 2020. His areas of interests include the social, political and cultural history of Indigenous peoples in Quebec and Canada, particularly wampum belts and the Huron-Wendat Nation. He is especially interested in the history of objects and collections over time.

MATHIEU LAPOINTE
Curator, Archives

Mathieu joined the Museum team in 2018. As a specialist in Montreal history and Quebec culture and ideologies, Mathieu has taken a particular interest in citizen movements, moralizing rhetoric, and public inquiries in 20th century Montreal.

GUISLAINE LEMAY
Curator, Material Culture

Guislaine joined the Museum team in 1992. Overseeing a collection of artefacts associated with domestic interiors, consumption habits, community life and scientific advances, Guislaine is especially interested in the material and cultural biographies of things and the relationships that people have with objects.

ZOË TOUSIGNANT
Curator, Photography

Zoë joined the Museum in 2022. Her research has focused on examining print culture as a vital form of dissemination for photography; retracing the networks of people and institutions that constitute the field of visual culture; and elucidating the affective bonds created by photographs and photographic practice.

CHRISTIAN VACHON
Director, Collection Management
Curator, Documentary Art

Christian joined the Museum team in 1989. An art historian passionate about Canadian iconography from the 18th century to the present day, Christian is particularly fascinated by graphic satire and the printed image. He focusses on documenting the history of caricature and political cartooning in Quebec.

ALEXIS WALKER
Associate Curator, Dress, Fashion and Textiles

Alexis joined the Museum team in 2015. She works to research and ​disseminate ​the history of Montreal’s clothing industry and tell stories related to its diverse fashion community. She is particularly interested in the intersections of contemporary fashion with art, music, film and pop culture.
