French Learners
As a citizen’s museum, the McCord Stewart Museum is committed to the integration of newcomers to Montréal. Since 2009, the Museum has offered dedicated programs especially designed for French-language immersion. Discover our exhibitions, explore our collections, and interact with our team of cultural facilitators at the Museum or online!
The Museum’s French-language immersion program aims to:
- Strengthen learnings to consolidate the acquisition of new sociohistorical knowledge on the history of Montreal and Indigenous cultures;
- Provide a space that fosters participation and intercultural exchanges by discussing historical and present-day topics.
The program is expanding! In collaboration with the team of the Direction de la formation continue et aux entreprises at Cégep du Vieux Montréal, the Education, Citizens and Cultural Action team of the McCord Stewart Museum is currently updating its offer.

The primary purpose of this visit is to create an encounter with Indigenous peoples to give visitors the sense that they are truly engaged and spark dialogue, contributing to a better mutual understanding.

LOOKING AFTER OUR STORIES IN MONTRÉAL/TIOHTIÁ:KE
This citizen-centred co-construction workshop turns a spotlight on the rarely told stories of the Chinese, Afrodescendant and Indigenous communities of Montréal/Tiohtiá:ke. Drawing on tales and snapshots of 19th- and 20th-century Montréal/Tiohtiá:ke from the Museum’s Photography collection, learners are invited to reflect on what contributes to their well-being in the city.
