Kent Monkman
February 8, 2019
Discover the exhibition with artist Kent Monkman and learn more about his alter ego, Miss Chief Eagle Testickle.
Adopting the perspective of his alter ego Miss Chief Eagle Testickle, Kent Monkman takes visitors on a journey back through Canada’s history, painting a critical portrait of colonialism and its devastating effects on the country’s Indigenous peoples.
As both the featured artist and curator of the exhibition, Monkman establishes a dialogue between his paintings, sculptures and installations, and various historic artefacts, many of which come from the Museum’s Indigenous Cultures and Decorative Arts collections.
