David W. Marvin: Street Chronicles 1965 -1975
On McGill College Avenue between De Maisonneuve and President-Kennedy
David Wallace Marvin (1930-1975) captured Montreal of the 1960s and 1970s when the city was undergoing a major transformation in terms of both architecture and urban planning. This year’s outdoor exhibition displays street scenes downtown and in working-class neighbourhoods such as Griffintown. The photos provide glimpses of day-to-day life, decaying buildings juxtaposed against skyscrapers, humorous notes and images that may surprise. Each photo is a story of a street as told by one of its residents.
