Documentary Screening: Montréal New Wave
Presented in collaboration with the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) as part of the exhibition Parachute: Subversive Fashion of the ’80s, Montréal New Wave is a documentary by Érik Cimon.
The screening will be followed by question-and-answer session with director Érik Cimon.
Montréal New Wave
Montréal New Wave offers a journey through time in the company of creators who gave birth to Quebec’s distinct approach to a worldwide cultural movement, whether they were musicians, performers, designers, painters or dancers, both Anglophone and Francophone. We discover the singular spirit, self-deprecating humour and originality of artists who wanted at all cost to distinguish themselves from their predecessors.
Montréal New Wave shows the remarkable effervescence of a generation of creators who propelled Quebec onto the international scene at a time when it was faced with making a decisive choice about its own future as a society.
Montréal New Wave, Canada, 2016, 92 min., Érik Cimon. In French and English.
