2024 Montreal Fashion Week

September 18 | 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The (Hi)stories of Our Clothes | Montreal Fashion Week

Paid activity | Space is limited, reservation required.

Come celebrate the stories told by our clothes during a festive evening at the McCord Stewart Museum as part of Montreal Fashion Week 2024!

The Dress, Fashion and Textiles collection includes more than 28,000 garments and accessories made or worn primarily in Montreal over the past three centuries. It covers every aspect of women’s, men’s, and children’s fashion from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Some of our clothes carry in their fibers the history of our families, our cultural heritage, the nostalgia of significant events, or the familiarity of everyday use, decade after decade. Which of your clothes have a particular meaning? Which pieces would you include in a museum collection to tell your personal story? Each of our garments will tell its unique story!

Program as of 5:30 p.m.

  • Share your garment’s story
Step into the booth to tell us a distinctive memory related to the item you chose to wear this evening.
Your anecdote could be featured on the Museum’s website and YouTube channel!
  • 6 p.m.: Attend a conversation exploring the expression of our true selves through our clothes, hosted by Lolitta Dandoy, fashion journalist and co-host of Tout le monde s’habille show with Marième Mboup (Yumböe), stylist and emerging designer as well as Marie Gagné, artist and content creator.
  • 7:30 p.m.: Live styling created by Lolitta Dandoy, ambassador of Chaînon stores and with stylist Mlle Geri using thrifted items from Chaînon store.
  • Bar ($) | Enjoy good taste with a twist, thanks to a complimentary beer from 1664 Blanc, official partner of Montreal Fashion Week!
