Black Samaritan Website Launch: Celebrating Union United Church’s Archives
Free Activity | Space is limited, Reservation required
For the exhibition To All the Unnamed Women, the Museum invites you to celebrate the launch of the Black Samaritan website. The fruit of several years’ work by Michaëlle Sergile and Nancy Oliver MacKenzie, the platform will showcase Montreal’s Black communities, as well as the archives of the Union United Church.
About Union United Church
Founded in 1907 in Little Burgundy, Union United Church (UUC) is a cornerstone of the Black community. As the first Black church in Montreal, it played a key role in creating a network of solidarity and mutual aid, and became a focal point for the English-speaking Black community. The UUC is still active more than a century later, reflecting the community’s deep roots within the city’s history.
