Board of Trustees – McCord Stewart Museum announces four new appointments

The McCord Stewart Museum is pleased to announce the addition of four new members to its Board of Trustees. Their diverse expertise and dedication to culture will certainly be a boon to our institution and our future ambitions.

New members of the 2024-2025 Board of Trustees:

Arun Bajaj

Mr. Bajaj is a corporate director. During his executive career he has led global human resources, legal and communications functions in public companies. His previous positions include Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resource Officer and Legal Affairs of Gildan Activewear Inc., Chief Human Resource Officer of Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance and Chief Human Resource Officer of Nissan Motor Company. In his career he has operated in multiple geographies including North America, Asia and Europe.

Mr. Bajaj since 2019 has served on the Board of Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Communications Inc. and since 2021 he has served as the Chair of the Human Resources Committee and member of the Corporate Governance Committee of Cogeco Communications Inc.

Mr. Bajaj serves as a members-at-large of the Board of Governors of McGill University since July 1, 2023.

Bruce Bolton

Bruce Bolton is the retired Executive Director of the Macdonald Stewart Foundation. He has been associated with the organization since the 1960s when he started as a student animator at the Stewart Museum where he was Director for more than 25 years and then became Executive Director of the Macdonald Stewart Foundation in 2004. He was a negotiator of the merge of the Stewart Museum with the McCord Museum in 2012-13. He sits on a number of not-for-profit boards such as The Lake St. Louis Historical Society (vice-president); The Liliane and David M. Stewart Program for Modern Design (President); The Canadian Federation of Friends of Museums (President); the World Federation of Friends of Museums (Treasurer) and The Atwater Library (President). Bruce Bolton was a founder of the Société des directeurs de musées montréalais (now Musées Montréal), Vice-Président Société des Musées du Québec; has received the Canadian Museums Association Award for Distinguished Service; is Trustee Emeritus and Fellow of the Chateau Ramezay Museum and has been appointed a Chevalier, Légion d’honneur (France) for his implication in museum and heritage projects in France.

Pierre-Luc Dumas

Pierre-Luc Dumas has over 40 years’ experience in infrastructure management and direction. Specializing in the development of large-scale urban projects at all levels of implementation—by leading several multidisciplinary teams of professionals—he has been responsible for the general management of several projects, including the Cité Multimédia in Montreal (a building complex worth more than $250 million housing over one hundred multimedia and information technology businesses) and the MIL Campus of the Université de Montréal.

Graduating with honours with a bachelor’s in architecture from Laval University in Québec City in 1982, Pierre-Luc Dumas began his career as a project architect designer in Vancouver and Montréal. Pierre-Luc Dumas joined the ranks of Pomerleau in 2005, he currently holds the position of Vice President Public Infrastructure Development.

Manon Gauthier

A cultural visionary, Manon Gauthier’s career spans over 30 years of experience in cultural management, public affairs and communication in the sectors of arts and creativity, philanthropy and cultural diplomacy. A stalwart leader and advisor, she contributed to the success of many businesses, cultural institutions and organizations at the local, national and international level, always seeking to spark unexpected and creative ways for cultural leaders to join forces and demonstrate the true power of culture in bringing communities together.

As senior vice-president of two leading international public affairs agencies in Montréal, she successfully led their development and positioning efforts across Canada and globally. She also possesses a thorough knowledge of government and institutional structures, having acted as a strategic advisor at all levels. During her tenure as an elected official from 2013 to 2017, at a critical moment in the history of Montreal, she actively contributed to its revival, holding concurrently all responsibilities related to culture, heritage, design, the Space for Life and gender equality, in addition to economic development issues linked to creativity, tourism and international relations. As general commissioner of the Riopelle Centenary Celebrations, she championed, between 2020–2024, the most important tribute ever paid to a Canadian artist, which will culminate, in 2026, toward the delivery of an unprecedented pavilion dedicated to the artistic legacy of Riopelle at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Québec City. She also acts as special advisor for the Audain Foundation, a leading family foundation based in Vancouver, responsible, among others, for the creation of the Riopelle Foundation. Strong-minded, strategic, a visionary, she stands out through her charisma, her dynamism, her versatility, her diplomacy and her bridging leadership. Over the last few decades, she forged and cultivated an important network, whether at the public, institutional or within the cultural and economic sectors, including at the international level. Her philanthropic and public affairs expertise are renowned, building on significant successes in leading major advocacy and fundraising campaigns. Perfectly bilingual, dedicated, passionate, rigorous, she thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. A pragmatic leader, her approach focuses on empowerment, result-based guidance, research, analysis, collaboration, collective effort and partnerships.
