Reconnect with your inner child for the Holidays at the McCord Stewart Museum. Come share a joyful day at the Museum with your friends and family, and celebrate the holidays with intergenerational fun! To mark the return of Ogilvy’s traditional mechanical Christmas windows, which have been enchanting Montrealers for over 75 years, the Museum invites you to a pyjama day full of storytelling and magic, presented by Place Montréal Trust.
On Saturday, November 30, cozy up in your best pyjamas and join us for a series of free activities starting at 10 a.m.
Everyone in pyjamas as of 10 a.m.
- Check out the marvellous Ogilvy’s Christmas mechanical window displays and play an exciting game of Seek and Find with the whole family. The two scenes and their many little characters return to the Theatre indoors and to Museum Alley outdoors.
- View a selection of toys from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, that are part of the Museum’s collection, and admire the ever-so-elegant fashion doll Miss Lily Darboy from 1863, who shows off her impressive trousseau of accessories including dresses, shoes, coats, hats and even swimsuits.
- Follow the self-guided tour designed especially for families in the exhibition Costume Balls: Dressing Up History, 1870-1927. Make sure to visit the photobooth in the exhibition to capture this special moment!
- Take your exploration booklet to set off on an adventure with your family in the exhibition Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resilience, by exploring the Museum’s collection, and the many stories it holds. Natu-natshishkueu: The Adventure of Connection is presented by Hydro-Québec.
- Discover the exhibitions Manasie Akpaliapik. Inuit Universe and To All the Unnamed Women by artist-in-residence Michaëlle Sergile.
- Fifteen members of the Grand Choir of Montreal will bring their Christmas songs an lullabies to life, adding joy to the festivities.
Workshops for every fancy from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Reading of the book Tales from the Turtle and story Manakanet mak Apakassik. Story time in French at 10:30 a.m. and in English at 11:15 a.m.
- Facepainting, a hit with the younger kids! | 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (This activity will be paused during lunch hour.)
- Crafting workshop Textures of an Imagined Journey will spark creativity and imagination. | 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Arctic Story Factory workshop will immerse you in the fascinating tales of the Inuit universe of sculptor Manasie Akpaliapik. | 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Festivities at the Café Notman and Museum Boutique
- Café Notman is also joining in the festive spirit, with free hot chocolate for everyone at the Museum that day (while supplies last). Additionally, families can indulge in a reasonably priced menu at Café Notman, catering to diverse tastes.
- On this special occasion, the Museum Boutique will feature a 25% discount on children’s books.

The Museum provides a welcoming environment, and a variety of services designed to enhance the experience for families. Amenities include a meal area, a nursing room, self-service lockers, and changing tables, all readily accessible.
