Sacred Sisterhood: A conversation on the Festival Afropolitain Nomade residency project
Free Activity | Space is limited, Reservation required
The McCord Stewart Museum, in collaboration with the Festival Afropolitain Nomade, invites you to a conversation on the artistic process for the festival’s creative residency.
Immerse yourself in the world of Sacred Sisterhood, a multidisciplinary artistic exploration celebrating the deep, spiritual bonds between women through dance, music, photography, video and an immersive installation.
At this round table, curators-in-residence Natasha Kanapé Fontaine and Louise Abomba invite you to discuss the work’s central themes: sisterhood, traditional rites and ancestral knowledge. The co-curators will talk about their creative approaches to conceiving this immersive work, which are centred on the rites and traditions of the participants from different cultures.
This activity is a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of women’s cultural practices through an artistic lens, and to forge links between the experiences of women past and present.
