At a critical moment in the history of the written word, as humanity’s archives migrate to the cloud, one filmmaker goes on a journey around the globe to better understand how she can preserve her own Romanian and Armenian heritage, as well as our collective memory. 

Blending the intellectual with the poetic, she embarks on a personal quest with universal resonance, navigating the continuum between paper and digital—and reminding us that human knowledge is above all an affair of the soul and the spirit.

About the director  

Oana Suteu Khintirian is a filmmaker, editor and media artist of Romanian-Armenian origin who has lived in Montreal since 1995. Following studies in cinema, she has been creating dance films and documentaries for the past 20 years, which have won awards at several international festivals, including Point de fuite, Passare and Flow. She has also edited numerous documentaries and animated films, and created installations and immersive environments presented in museums and galleries around the world. Beyond Paper is her first feature film as a director.
