The International First Peoples Festival invites you to the Museum for a screening by Wapikoni Mobile. Attend a program of short films in the Innu language, Tshitanishkutapananat umeshkanamuau – Le chemin de nos ancêtres, celebrating the Decade of Indigenous Languages. Wapikoni ambassador and filmmaker Jani Bellefleur-Kaltush, from the Innu community of Nutashkuan, will also be in attendance.

Wapikoni Mobile
Wapikoni Mobile is a travelling audiovisual and musical training and creation studio engaging Indigenous youth in their communities. By developing skills in Indigenous youth, the studio is shaping the next generation of audiovisual artists and community leaders. Their work also contributes to expanding First Nations cultural heritage and creating an Indigenous cinematography in Quebec.
First Peoples’ Festival
The International First Peoples’ Festival showcases the artistry and cultural renaissance of Indigenous peoples from across the Americas and the world. The multidisciplinary event unfolds over ten days of creation, encounters and discoveries in August. The Place des Festivals, with its giant teepee, becomes a nucleus of intense artistic activity that radiates throughout the city. The programming centres on First People’s cinema, crowd-drawing concerts, and Indigenous performing arts in a wide variety of forms and expressions.
