The social, demographic and technological changes of recent decades have gradually deprived older institutional buildings of their primary functions. A growing number of schools, hospitals and churches are being abandoned, but their new roles are often improvised at the expense of architectural heritage. How do we protect our public heritage and give these buildings new functions?
