In this lecture, designer Jean-Claude Poitras examines the last seven decades of fashion in Quebec. He leads us behind the scenes and retraces the moments, people and designers who have marked the Quebec fashion scene and its history. He makes us realize that fashion has a special role in bearing witness to the transformation of our society. Fashion trends have not only shaped our wardrobes, but also our mores and our openness to the world.

Fashion designer, multidisciplinarian and visual artist Jean-Claude Poitras is an icon in the world of fashion and design. A journalist, lecturer, spokesperson and trend chaser with an insatiable curiosity, this born communicator has taken it upon himself to democratize all forms of design and defend the importance of fashion high and low..

This lecture is presented in relation to the exhibition Jean-Claude Poitras: Fashion and Inspiration. This exhibition was organized jointly by the McCord Museum and the Musée de la civilisation.
