OIL
This exhibition has ended
The McCord Museum will present OIL, an exhibition by renowned Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky. This impressive collection of 56 large colour photographs explores the subject of oil, the much maligned natural resource that has defined the world as we know it. The vast landscapes shown in the photographs provide us with rarely seen glimpses of oil production and distribution, oil fields, oil sands, and oil refineries. Burtynsky’s lens has also captured the impact that petroleum development has on our lives and its hold on people, cities, land, and the environment. These stunning images carry both a social and ecological message that is at once disturbing and thought-provoking.
