Mimmo Jodice
Sublime Cities
This exhibition has ended
The McCord Museum presents a one-of-a-kind exhibition, Sublime Cities by Mimmo Jodice. This internationally-renowned artist translates his vision of cities and urban architecture into singularly beautiful black and white photographs. Come along on a journey to the world’s landmark cities, including Naples, Moscow, New York and, of course, Montreal.
Mimmo Jodice (born in Naples in 1934) is one of the leading figures in Italian photography. His approach to photography is guided by the words of Fernando Pessoa: ”But what was I thinking about before I got lost in seeing?” The photographer looks back on his life work as he searches for the origins of Mediterranean civilization in the most picturesque places in Naples. His images are inspired by archeological remains and ancient faces carved in stone, eroded by time and the sea.
Interview with Mimmo Jodice during his stay in Montréal in May 2012.
