Sometimes it gently soothes the soul, while other times it boldly sounds the charge. At all times, music expresses the emotions of a people. It lifts us up, urges us on, and reawakens our memories. Discover how music has provided the soundtrack for the evolution of Quebec culture.

With its display of melodies, lyrics, costumes and performances, the exhibition Music – Quebec: From Charlebois to Arcade Fire, presented by Sony and Radio-Canada in collaboration with Milk, invites visitors to learn how musical artists have become, sometimes in spite of themselves, the standard-bearers for society’s demands and the driving force behind popular passions, as well as representatives of various eras and ambassadors of different genres.

From the early 1960s to today, Quebec performers have given a voice to individuals and social groups through folk music, yé-yé, disco, rock, rap and world music.

Immerse yourself in the soundtrack of Quebec and delight in the discovery of artefacts from musical artists who have influenced our history as you delve into the world of memorable artists from Beau Dommage and Louise Forestier, to Ariane Moffatt and Loco Locass.
