Robert Davidson
The Abstract Edge
This exhibition has ended.
Enter a world of inspiration and abstraction, of bold colour and striking form in the powerful exhibition Robert Davidson: The Abstract Edge.
Davidson’s work explores the relationship between art and philosophy. His passion is reconnecting with the knowledge of his ancestors through his artwork, through the abstract edge. A renowned contemporary Haida artist, Davidson sees abstraction as a way of pushing the mind to go beyond what the eye recognizes. His work challenges both himself as creator, and us as viewers, to use the abstract form as a catalyst to explore the tradition and philosophy of Haida culture.
In his first exhibition in ten years, Davidson has created an exceptional body of work comprised of paintings, low-relief carvings; and sculptures in cedar and aluminium.
This travelling exhibition has been produced by the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia and circulated by the National Gallery of Canada
