About the destination

Nunavut is a diverse territory, both geographically and culturally. In the Qikiqtaaluk region, imposing mountains and fjords rise from the sea. Glaciers advance slowly across the tundra, and icebergs flow into the crystal-clear waters of Baffin Bay. The waters of this region are teeming with marine mammals. The Inuit’s millennia-long relationship with the land for food, shelter and clothing has given them an unrivalled knowledge of the land that is reflected in the works of local artists.

Iqaluit, the capital of Nunavut, is an excellent starting point for discovering Inuit culture and Arctic landscapes. The city is home to many Inuit artists, filmmakers and musicians, as well as spring and summer arts and cultural festivals that attract artists from all over the territory. Nearby are magnificent parks offering a variety of landscapes, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and ancient Thule sites to explore.

The adventure continues in Kinngait, at the southwest tip of Baffin Island. This small community of artists is world-renowned for the quality of its artwork. Boasting breathtaking scenery and an astonishing abundance of inspiring Arctic wildlife, Dorset Island and nearby Mallikjuaq Territorial Park are prime locations for observing migrating caribou, seabirds, whales, seals and walruses.
